Work of Kyiv, European Commission on Ukrainian energy strategy almost complete
Ukraine and the European Commission have almost completed elaboration of Ukraine's energy strategy and a memorandum on mutual understanding, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said.
"There are two documents which we have almost developed through joint efforts - these are the Ukrainian energy strategy, and we need to answer numerous questions about further modernization of this sector, and an updated memorandum we may sign in the near future," he said at a meeting with European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic in Kyiv on Friday.
Sefcovic stressed the importance of Ukrainian energy strategy and energy sector reform.
He also said that the memorandum on mutual understanding was practically ready and only a few rounds of negotiations remained until then. He said he would be ready to sign the memorandum on behalf of the European Union as soon as possible to raise the level of cooperation between the EU and Ukraine.
The prime minister said, in turn, that he was expecting the soonest consideration of a package of energy laws at the Verkhovna Rada.
