Mriya Agroholding expanded spring crop planted areas by 29% in 2016, to 83,000 ha, the company's press service has reported.

Sunflower seeds are sowed on 42,600 ha. Large areas were used to sow spring barley and rapeseeds, which the company has planted for the first time: 11,200 ha and 9,800 ha respectively.

Corn was sowed on 9,100 ha, soybeans – on 6,000 ha and potatoes – on 2,000 ha. Over 1,300 ha were sowed with mustard, buckwheat, beans, sorghum and peas. Silage corn and medick was sowed on 648 ha and 122 ha.

This year the agroholding used no-till, mini-till and broadcasting ways of sowing.

Operating Director Viktor Kukharchuk said that the key factor influencing the sowing campaign this year was weather. First sunflower seeds were sowed and then corn and soybeans.

"The state of crops is perfect. We hope to have good harvest. In general, depending on the region, we cultivated soil for winter crops using different ways," he said.

He said that this year temperature and rains are more favorable for winter wheat.
