Accusations that DTEK finances terrorism groundless - DTEK

DTEK energy holding has denied accusations that the company finances terrorism.

"DTEK carried out and is carrying out operations only under Ukrainian law. The company does not have contract relations with companies registered in territory that is not under the control of Ukraine, and accusations of financing terrorists by the company are groundless," the press service of DTEK Energo told Interfax-Ukraine.

DTEK Energo said the company is actively cooperating with law enforcement agencies and is ready to provide any required information, as last summer law enforcement agencies studied the actions of the company whilst buying coal and the company cooperated fully.

"The last heating season was one of the most difficult in the history of Ukraine. DTEK was doing all that was possible to deliver short-supply coal from its own enterprises Sverdlovantracit and Rovenkiaantracit in the hostilities zone and started supplies of resources not of its own, including imported resources," the press service said.

The Babushkinsky district court of Dnipropetrovsk on October 13, 2015 ordered an off-scheduled check of DTEK Dniproenergo from October 19 to November 6 to ascertain whether the company adheres to Ukrainian law regarding cash transactions with companies registered in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The check was to be carried out under a petition of the Security Service of Ukraine which considers purchases of coal from some companies operating in the eastern regions of Ukraine to constitute financing of terrorism.
