Gas transit via Ukraine to Europe back to last year's figures

Transit of Russian natural gas to Europe via Ukraine in the first nine and a half months of 2015 has almost returned to last year's figures.

According to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, gas transit through Ukraine from January 1 to October 19, 2015 amounted to 52 billion cubic meters, which is 1% more than in the same period last year.

In the period from October 1 to October 19 European countries were supplied 3.6 billion cubic meters of gas by transit, which is twice more than in the same period in October 2014.

As of October 21, the daily mode of natural gas transportation to consumers in Europe and Moldova was 217 million cubic meters, which is 72% more than on the same date last year.

As reported, Gazprom in September 2014-February 2015 limited gas supply to Europe via Ukraine. Restrictions were introduced to counter reverse supplies from the EU to Ukraine.

Ukraine in January-September 2015 reduced transit of natural gas to Europe and Moldova by 3.7% compared to the same period in 2014, to 48.351 billion cubic meters. In particular Europe in the first nine months received 46.313 billion cubic meters of gas, Moldova - 2.038 billion cubic meters.
