Russia has not yet grounded fears on EU-Ukraine DCFTA – Ukraine trade representative

Russia has not yet grounded its fears and claims regarding the EU-Ukraine Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Representative Natalia Mykolska told in Kyiv on Thursday.

"Unfortunately, I should say that failure to understand our position by Russian partners and the fact that despite the fact that the negotiations have been lasted for a long period of time, they have not yet been able to ground their claims on all sections," she said.

Mykolska said that Ukraine is ready to discuss Russia's alarm at the issues linked to the implementation of the Ukraine-EU DCFTA. She said that Russia is unpredictable in the issues of foreign trade.

"Business clearly confirmed that they are not oriented to Russia in long-term relations and other markets and the EU market are more interesting for it from the point of view of margins and predictability," she said.

She said that the Ukraine-EU DCFTA is also to open a possibility of placing industrial facilities by Ukraine to produce various spare parts on its territory.
