Ukrenergo plans to sign contracts for mutual emergency aid with five states by Nov

Ukrenergo and state enterprise Energomarket are preparing to sign agreements on mutual emergency aid with five neighboring countries, Ukrenergo acting director Yuriy Kasich has told reporters in Kyiv.

According to him, agreements will be signed with Moldova, Belarus, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

"I think by the start of the autumn and the winter period of this year these contracts will be signed," he said.

Kasich noted that in August, a similar contract was signed with the Polish system operator. Ukraine has had the same kind of contract with Russia for several years.

However, he clarified that since September 1 Ukraine has supplied about one million kilowatt-hours of electricity to Poland as part of a mutual emergency aid agreement.

As reported, in the first half of August Poland imposed restrictions on electricity consumption due to a heat wave. In response, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk instructed the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry to immediately take measures to ensure the maximum possible supply of electricity to the Polish power grid.
