Grain stocks in Ukraine as of Aug 1 some 17% higher than last year

Grain stocks held at agricultural enterprises in Ukraine, apart from small ones, and at enterprises that store and process grain, amounted to 24.5 million tonnes as of August 14, 2015, which is 17% up year-over-year, Ukraine's State Statistics Service has reported.

Wheat stocks amounted to 17.5 million tonnes, barley stocks stood at 4.2 billion tonnes, corn at 2 million tonnes, and rye at 100,000 tonnes.

Grain reserves at just agricultural enterprises weighed in at 16.1 million tonnes as of August 1, which was 16% more than a year earlier, including 11.4 million tonnes of wheat, 2.7 million tonnes of barley, 1.3 million tonnes of corn, and 100,000 tonnes of rye.

The statistics service's figures indicate that sunflower seed reserves amounted to 550,000 tonnes as of the said date, which was 34% down year-over-year, including 368,000 tonnes stored at agricultural enterprises (25% up year-over-year).

The data does not include the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol and a part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone.
