Russia cuts meat, fish, milk imports in Q1

Russia imported 97,100 tonnes of meat for $319.6 million in Q1 2015, down from 187,700 tonnes for $727.9 million in the same period of last year, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said.

Poultry imports fell to 45,900 tonnes ($69.3 million) from 81,400 tonnes ($129.5 million).

Fresh and frozen fish imports fell to 94,900 tonnes ($208.9 million) from 197,200 tonnes ($545.1 million).

Milk and condensed cream imports fell to 40,100 tonnes ($87 million) from 42,400 tonnes ($169.7 million) and butter imports to 12,100 tonnes ($46.3 million) from 44,000 tonnes ($228.9 million).

Vegetable oil imports were level with Q1 last year at 400 tonnes but fell in value, to $500,000 from $600,000.

Raw sugar imports fell to 235,300 tonnes ($93.7 million) from 350,800 tonnes ($147.6 million) but white sugar imports grew, to 66,400 tonnes ($39.4 million) from 41,400 tonnes ($25.8 million).
