RUSH close 30 Eva stores in militia-controlled areas of Donetsk region

RUSH LLC (Dnipropetrovsk), the owner of the EVA chain of perfume and cosmetics stores, as of February 6, 2015 has closed 30 stores in areas which are temporarily not under control of the Ukrainian authorities in Donetsk region (Donetsk, Makiyivka and Horlivka).

According to a company press release, referring to its CEO Olha Shevchenko, the company made the decision as it failed to continue commercial business in line with Ukrainian law in the said territories.

"We were waiting for the settlement of the situation to the utmost; we continued working providing residents with convenience goods – cleaning supplies, hygiene products and baby care products. Unfortunately, in December 2014 we had to finish our operation in the occupied territories – close stores and cancel leasing agreements," reads the report, citing Shevchenko.

The company said that 160 people worked in the closed stored. They were asked to transfer to towns where the EVA chain is present.

Some employees decided not to move, while other employees are now working in Kharkiv and Odesa.

EVA stores currently operate in Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka and Mariupol in Donetsk region.

"The loss of the company from the closure of the stores came to UAH 17.815 million. In particular, two stores in Donetsk were destroyed by shelling," Head of the EVA store line direction Hea Korzh said.

She said that a total of 255 EVA stores were operating in Ukraine as of February 6, 2015 in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Cherkasy, Poltava, Sumy and Zaporizhia regions.

RUSH Company was founded in May 2002. The company sells perfumes and cosmetic products.
