Energy ministry asks for three day extension for investigation into Russian electricity imports contracts

Chairman of the commission for investigating the circumstances of signed contracts on imports of electricity from Russian and its supplies to Crimea and Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Roman Hreba, has said that the term of investigation has been extended for three days.
"The prolongation of the term is linked to the fact that Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn expressed a desire to present explanations in detail during studying the act of internal investigation on January 31. Despite the fact that during the investigation the minister refused to present explanations, they are important for establishing the circumstances of the case and it was decided to prolong the investigation by three days," reads the report, posted on the government's website on Sunday.
The original contracts and the explanations of officials from Ukrinterenergo will be repeatedly demanded.
The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported that the commission was created under an order made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk on January 21, 2015.
