Export of goods from Ukraine in 2024 increases by 15.6%, import by 11.3% – service

 Export of goods from Ukraine in 2024 increased by 18.5% compared to 2023, from $36 billion to $41.6 billion, while import increased by 11.3%, from $63.5 billion to $70.7 billion, the State Customs Service said on Tuesday.

As a result, according to its data, Ukraine's foreign trade turnover last year increased by 13% compared to 2023, to $112.3 billion.

At the same time, taxable imports amounted to $57.4 billion, or 81% of the total volume of imported goods. The tax burden per 1 kg of taxable imports increased by 5% per year to $0.51 per kg.

According to the published data, Ukraine imported the most goods from China for $14.4 billion (in 2023 for $10.4 billion), Poland for $7 billion ($6.6 billion) and Germany for $5.4 billion ($4.9 billion), while it exported the most to Poland for $4.7 billion, Spain for $2.9 billion and Germany for $2.8 billion.

As reported, in 2023, the top three countries importing products from Ukraine were Poland, Romania and China.

In the total volume of goods imported in 2024, some 65% (as in 2023) were vehicles, chemical products and fuel and energy products. In particular, machinery, equipment and transport were imported for $25 billion against $19.8 billion the previous year. During their customs clearance, UAH 172.3 billion, or 29% of customs payments, were paid to the budget.

Chemical goods were imported for $11.7 billion against $11 billion in 2023 (UAH 87.7 billion, or 15% of customs payments, were paid to the budget), fuel and energy products for $8.9 billion against $10.3 billion (UAH 157.6 billion, or 27% of customs payments, were paid).

The top three most exported goods last year included food products with $24.6 billion (in 2023 with $21.8 billion), metals and its products with $4.4 billion ($3.9 billion), as well as machinery, equipment and transport with $3.5 billion ($2.9 billion). The State Customs Service said during customs clearance of export goods for which an export duty is established, UAH 311.3 million was paid to the budget in 2024.
