Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade with goods down to $218.4 mln in Oct

The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade with goods in October 2014 totaled $218.4 million compared to $337.4 million in September 2014, while in the previous four months the surplus was seen, the State Statistics Service reported on Monday.

According to the service, in October 2014 exports plunged by 23.4%, to $4.199 billion compared to October 2013, while imports dropped by 39.3%, to $4.418 billion.

According to the report, exports of goods fell by 2.4% compared to the previous month and imports were down by 4.8%.

The State Statistics Service said that prices of Ukrainian exported goods decreased by 5.9% on average, while the prices of imported goods fell by 2.4%.

In January-October 2014, exports of goods from Ukraine dropped by 9.4% year-over-year, to $46.17 billion, while imports were down by 27%, to $45.6 billion.

The surplus of Ukraine's foreign trade with goods in January-October 2014 stood at $0.57 billion compared to $11.52 billion year-over-year.

As reported, last year imports of goods to Ukraine exceeded exports by $13.65 billion, which was 13.9% up on 2012.

Exports last year tumbled by 8%, to $63.31 billion, while imports narrowed by 9.1%, to $76.96 billion.
