Yatseniuk insists on introduction of electronic VAT administration system by 2015

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has emphasized the need to introduce the electronic value added tax (VAT) administration system from January 1, 2015.

Presenting the government’s program in parliament on Thursday, Yatseniuk noted that over the past six months the government, together with relevant authorities, has been improving the electronic VAT refund system.

"The position of the government is as follows: we have a law on the special VAT administration procedure. We will amend the law. We've held dozens of meetings with representatives of medium sized and large businesses, and something should be revised, but the special VAT administration procedure should start working. Those who are eligible for VAT refunds will have refunded, and those who do not – will not collect billions of [hryvnias] of VAT from the budget illegally via the courts," he said.

The Prime Minister said that on the request of the business community, the government will amend the law by the end of this year, allowing it to be brought into effect in 2015.

The Prime Minister did not specify what will be removed from the current law on electronic VAT administration.
