Ukrzaliznytsia to launch high-speed train Kyiv-Odesa in two months

The State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia) will launch a high-speed train on the Kyiv-Odesa route in two months, Ukrzaliznytsia Director General Borys Ostapiuk said at a briefing at the exhibition of railway products in Kyiv on Thursday.

"This will be a Hyundai train, or a train made by Kriukov Car Building Works," he said.

He said that the journey time would take around 4.5-5 hours to get to the destination.

He did not disclose the price of tickets for the train.

As reported, referring to the head of the main passenger department at Ukrzaliznytsia, Ihor Breus, it was planned to use the Ukraine-2 rolling stock produced by Kriukov Car Building Works on this route.

The Ukrainian High-Speed Railway Company (Kyiv) in 2013 announced the plan to launch Intercity+ trains produced by Korea's Hyundai Rotem on the Kyiv-Odesa route in the traffic schedule for 2014/2015.

Previously, Ukrzaliznytsia planned by the end of 2012 to launch Intercity+ trains on the Kyiv-Odesa route.
