Bogdan Corporation, one of the largest players on the Ukrainian automobile market, has presented the new А30220 Bogdan medium-class bus with India's Ashok Leyland kits, reads a press release of the corporation issued on Wednesday.

The press release says that the new model of the bus presented on Wednesday on the Expo-Trans exhibition in Donetsk was designed at the Lutsk bus plant.

Earlier Bogdan Trade and Service House, which is part of the corporation, signed a distribution agreement with Ashok Leyland, which allows the development of sales of buses and trucks (as wells as chassis and knock-down kits) in Ukraine and the CIS.

The low-deck bus is a medium-class city bus. It can carry 65 passengers and has 26 seats. The bus has a 160 hp 5.7 liter engine and a manual five-speed transmission.

Zincified metal is used in production of its case, and the front and the rear part of the bus will be made of plastic, which allows increasing the durability of the case's parts.

The warranty servicing is 24 months.

The approximate price of the bus is around UAH 650,000 depending on options.

According to the corporation, the price makes the new bus one of the key candidates for replacement of existing minibus taxies. According to forecasts of exports, around 30% of buses will be medium-class buses – and the А30220 Bogdan bus occupies this segment.

With the entrance of the bus to the market it is planned to continue producing similar A092 buses with improved characteristics.

The spokesman of the corporation, Serhiy Krasulia, told Interfax-Ukraine that another competitive advantage of the bus is the possibility of transporting passengers with disabilities.

"Only large and super-large buses can carry passengers with disabilities in Ukraine, and in the medium class this is the first bus that can do it," he said.

Krasulia said that the corporation is ready to start mass production of the buses and at present the bus production plans are being formed.

According to Vice President of Bogdan Corporation Volodymyr Hunchyk, at present, the corporation is the only manufacturer in Ukraine, which produces buses of all classes.

Hunchyk said that the medium class, large and super large buses are in line with the requirements of the State Economy Stimulation Program for 2013-2014, which foresees the purchase of 4,200 buses from Ukrainian manufacturers using a beneficial crediting scheme.

Etalon Corporation in Ukraine creates the Romashka bus using Ashok Leyland's kits, but it is a large bus.

The industrial assets of Bogdan Corporation include the production of cars in Cherkasy with a capacity of 120,000-150,000 cars (Lada, Hyundai and cars under its own brand) and 6,000 buses and trolleybuses per year in Lutsk.
