URCS and Coca-Cola Foundation provide humanitarian aid to residents of Velyka Dymerka in Kyiv region
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS), together with the Coca-Cola Foundation, provided humanitarian assistance to the residents of Velyka Dymerka, Kyiv region.
"The distribution of humanitarian aid in the form of bed sets was organized in the local dormitory, in which the residents of the united territorial community, whose houses were destroyed, are accommodated. A powerful generator has also been provided to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the center, designed for 200 people," the URCS said on Facebook on Wednesday.
According to Anatoliy Bochkarev, the chairman of the Velyka Dymerka village council, almost 350 houses were completely destroyed in the territory of the community as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
"In Velyka Dymerka alone, at least 160 families were left homeless. Many of them do not have the opportunity to find a new home. Therefore, the dormitory provided by the community is the only refuge for the majority. Some 80 people continue to live here today. The help of philanthropists is very important, both for these people and for the community. Having lost their homes, people lost all their property, so the arrangement of sleeping places in the dormitory is solved with the help of philanthropists and volunteers," Bochkarev noted.
Velyka Dymerka was under Russian occupation in March 2022.
