President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an evening video message on Sunday, thanked the rescuers of the State Emergency Service working to eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling.

"Today is a day when it is worth celebrating those who preserve for us – for everyone in Ukraine – normal life circumstances, no matter what happens. We always, every day and every night – after Russian attacks, after any tragic events – we can count on that the rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine will definitely be on site – they will definitely help. No matter where this happens. And in areas near the front, and in every city and region. This is one of the fundamental features of real statehood – the presence of a system and people whose job is to save. And I thank each and everyone – the entire staff of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine – who is really trying to do their job effectively," he said.

First, the president noted the rescuers working in Kharkiv and the region.

Separately and especially, Zelenskyy thanked the rescuers in Donetsk region.

"Today I will personally note the guys who distinguished themselves during firefighting and rescue work after Russian attacks on Toretsk and Selydove. Civil Defense Sergeants Oleksandr Pavlenko and Pavlo Zakharov, Chief Master Sergeant Andriy Maltamar, Lieutenant Stanislav Nechypurenko, and Civil Defense Major Volodymyr Derenko," the head of state concluded.
