NABU, SAPO submit to court case of infliction of UAH 94 mln in losses by ex-CEO of Energoatom-Trading

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) sent a case to court on charges of causing losses amounting to UAH 93.76 million by the former CEO of the trading division of NNEGC Energoatom.
The investigation established that in September 2020, the accused ensured that the winner of the auction sold the entire volume of electricity at a reduced cost – UAH 1,120 per 1 MWh, while discriminating against other participants in the auction, and these are over 30 companies deprived of the opportunity to purchase what they needed volumes of electricity at a higher price.
As a result of the sale of 1.465 million MWh of electricity at a reduced price, the state-owned enterprise received less income in the amount of UAH 93.76 million.
As reported, the former CEO of Energoatom-Trading was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of official position) in February 2023.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of three to six years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with a fine of 500 to 1,000 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens.
