URCS, The Coca-Cola System rebuilding rural kindergarten in Kyiv region from scratch, destroyed by Russian army during occupation
Under the patronage of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) and The Coca-Cola System, the restoration of a kindergarten destroyed as a result of the Russian occupation of Kyiv region in the village of Bohdanivka, Brovary district, began from scratch.
"We started our cooperation last year with the signing of a joint memorandum … Our wishes for this kindergarten to be built in this place coincided … We have received all the permits to start work. And as you have seen today, the work has already begun," Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross, told reporters in Bohdanivka on Tuesday.
He specified that the cost of the project is $3 million. According to Dotsenko, the construction of the building will be completed in 2025.
"This will be one of the best kindergartens in Kyiv region, which will have all the most modern European equipment, and it will also have its own shelter," said Oleksandr Kutsenko, deputy village head of Velykodymerska merged territorial community.
He specified that the shelter will be anti-radiation and designed for 500 people. "It will practically be a sarcophagus, a monolithic structure, the construction of which will take into account all modern regulatory standards," Kutsenko stressed.
According to him, in 2022, the Russian occupiers set up an ammunition depot in a kindergarten, which was blown up during the retreat. He said that about one and a half thousand shells had already been found, neutralized and removed under the ruins of the building. "And now employees of the State Emergency Service are working here every day and doing everything to make construction work safe," Kutsenko said.
