Ex-MP Pashynsky posts bail, released from pretrial detention facility

Former MP Serhiy Pashynsky, whom the investigation considers one of the organizers of the criminal group that seized oil products totaling UAH 967 million, has posted bail and been released from the pretrial detention facility, Pashinsky said on his Facebook page.

"National Defense Industry Association members just paid full bail for me. I have been released," he said on Tuesday.

As reported, on February 12, NABU, SAPO and SBU notified former MP Serhiy Pashynsky of suspicion for misappropriation of petroleum products and causing the government almost UAH 1 billion of losses under Part 5 of Article 191 and Part 1 of Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He, along with five other defendants, are suspected of misappropriation and sale of 97,000 tonnes of petroleum products seized by the government in 2014 from the structures of businessman Serhiy Kurchenko, which were supposed to go to the needs of the army.

On February 26, the High Anti-Corruption Court took Pashynsky into custody with an alternative bail of more than UAH 272 million.
