Ukraine appeals to Russia regarding alleged dead POWs in Il-76 crash, but they ignore this request – GUR

Ukraine appealed to the Russian Federation with a request regarding the return of the bodies of prisoners who allegedly died in the crash of the Russian Il-76, but Russia did not respond to this, said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Agency (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense.

"About the information about the death - yes, Ukraine has applied and continues to apply regarding the transfer of bodies," he said on the air of UArazom (UAtogether).

According to him, the Russian side has not reacted to this yet.

Yusov noted the urgency of Ukraine's demand for an impartial international investigation into not only the circumstances of the Il-76 crash, but also to find out who or what was actually inside - people or ammunition.

"So far, Russia has not confirmed the process concerning the international open investigation," Yusov stressed.

A representative of the Ukrainian intelligence service said that the exchange of prisoners of war on January 31 was "almost the end" of the disrupted operation on the day of the incident with the crash of the Russian plane. According to him, as part of the exchange, Ukrainians returned home, who were supposed to be exchanged on January 24.

"Except for 65 people from the list, which was published by Kremlin-controlled propagandists of the Russian Federation," he added.

According to him, Ukraine continues to consider them prisoners of war.

As reported, on Wednesday, January 31, Ukraine and Russia conducted the second exchange of prisoners of war since the beginning of the year.
