Ukraine, Germany discuss wording of key provisions of agreement on security guarantees

Representatives of Ukraine, in pursuance of the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held another round of negotiations with representatives of Germany on the conclusion of a bilateral security agreement, the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state reports.

"In pursuance of the agreements between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, reached during a telephone conversation on January 24, 2024, a two-day round of negotiations with representatives of the German government on concluding a bilateral agreement on security obligations and long-term support for Ukraine took place," the message published on Thursday says.

It is noted that the Ukrainian negotiating team was headed by Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva.

"The parties discussed the wording of the key provisions of the agreement, terminology and legal formalities," the press service added.

Following the talks, representatives of Ukraine and Germany agreed on a schedule for further communication between the negotiating groups in the near future.
