Ukraine and China have a chance to find grounds for developing relations, Head of the President's Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said.

"I am confident that with this country, which was Ukraine's largest trading partner, a country with which we potentially have many mutually beneficial areas, we definitely have a chance to find grounds for the development of bilateral relations," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

At the same time, he said "unfortunately, relations with China were left to us, like many other things, with a certain, to put it mildly, legacy, where there are many issues from the past, unresolved issues and from the point of view of the Chinese side, not quite, let's say, understandable. The Ukrainian side, the Ukrainian president are definitely ready to resolve these issues."

"Zelenskyy had two very good, very constructive conversations with Xi Jinping. I can say that I was amazed by the depth of knowledge of the Chinese leader regarding Ukraine and his warm attitude towards us. You know that he was at one time in Odesa and in its region. I believe that we have great potential with China. Once again, we just need to work," Yermak said.
