Prosecutor General in Davos: Joint efforts important to expand support for aggression tribunal, ensure its functioning

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin notes the importance of joint efforts to expand support for the special tribunal on aggression and ensure its functioning.

"We have already reported suspicions of committing war crimes to 477 people, 77 people have been convicted. The International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression has launched its work – a key step towards the creation of the Special Tribunal. It is crucial that our joint efforts are aimed at expanding support for the Tribunal and ensuring its functioning," the PGO press service said on the Telegram channel on Monday, citing the Prosecutor General.

According to the department, Kostin, as part of the Ukrainian delegation to the World Economic Forum in Davos, took part in the fourth meeting of national security advisers and foreign policy advisers to state leaders on the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.

In particular, as noted in the message, during the "Restoration of Justice" panel, Forum participants heard testimonies of Ukrainians who survived war crimes committed by the Russian military: a 16-year-old boy whose father was shot by the occupiers in front of his eyes, a young woman who suffered from sexual violence by a Russian soldier.

"These people deserve justice. And it is for the sake of them and other victims that we are building our network of comprehensive responsibility for all the crimes of the aggressor," the Prosecutor General said.

According to him, the Peace Formula provides "a solid basis for the creation of effective international mechanisms that will bring us closer to victory – the victory of democracy over tyranny, the rule of law over the rule of force."

"This victory will lay the foundation for expanding and strengthening the Euro-Atlantic security architecture," Kostin said.
