Ukrainian forces destroy eight attack UAVs Shahed-136/131, 18 cruise missiles – Zaluzhny

The enemy launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, firing 59 air attack weapons; Ukrainian forces destroyed eight Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs and 18 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny said.

"On the night of January 8, 2024, the enemy launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using cruise, aviation, ballistic, anti-aircraft guided missiles and attack UAVs. In total, 59 enemy air attack weapons were recorded," he said in the Telegram channel.

Thus, the enemy launched eight attack UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type from Primorsko-Akhtarsk region, Russia; seven S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Belgorod region; four X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from four MiG-31K aircraft (launch area Ryazan, Tambov); 24 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launch area some Engels – Russia); eight Kh-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 bombers from the Belgorod region, Russia; six Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Dzhankoy, Chauda – Crimea areas; two X-31P guided aircraft missiles from tactical aircraft (launch area – Belgorod region).

According to Zaluzhny, critical civilian infrastructure, industrial and military facilities were attacked. This time the enemy attacked different regions of Ukraine. In particular, missiles flying along a ballistic trajectory were sent to Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Khmelnytsky regions.

"As a result, the defenders of the sky destroyed: eight attack UAVs Shahed-136/131; some 18 cruise missiles X-101/X-555/X-55. Let's hold the skies," he said.
