Interior Minister: ten die due to severe weather in Ukraine
Due to severe weather in Ukraine, ten people died and 23 people, including children, were injured, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko has said.
"Consequences of severe weather: eight roads in Mykolaiv and Kirovograd regions remain blocked for traffic. Some 411 settlements in 11 regions were de-energized. A total of 1,530 vehicles were towed from drifts. As a result of complications of weather conditions, ten people died - in Odesa, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv regions and Kyiv. Some 23 people were injured, including two children. Headquarters for eliminating the consequences of severe weather operate at the state and regional levels," Klymenko said in his Telegram channel.
He said that in Odesa region, units of the State Emergency Service were involved in assistance 254 times. Some 849 vehicles were towed, including 24 buses and 17 emergency vehicles. Assistance was provided to 2,498 people, including 162 children. On sections of roads M-05 and M-15, traffic is organized in reverse mode.
In Mykolaiv region, rescuers responded to calls 66 times and towed 144 cars. Traffic remains difficult on some sections of the road.
