Ukrainian law enforcement officers identified and notified of suspicion two Russian servicemen who opened targeted fire on a car with civilians in Chernihiv district of Chernihiv region in 2022, as a result of which two adults were killed and two more children were injured.

"During the procedural guidance of Chernihiv District Prosecutor's Office, two servicemen of the Russian Federation were identified and reported in absentia on suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war, connected with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) said on the Telegram channel on Friday.

According to the investigation, in March 2022, six civilians, including three minors, tried to drive a Renault Duster out of the village of Rohoschi, Chernihiv region, which was temporarily occupied by Russian troops.

"Moving along the highway in the direction of the village of Khmelnitsa, a civilian vehicle stopped on the side of the road so as not to hinder the movement of a column of enemy equipment. The car and the people in it did not pose any threat to the occupiers. However, the Russian military, including two suspects, began firing at the car with automatic weapons," the report says.

The prosecutor's office clarifies that as a result of the shelling, the driver and passenger of the car were killed at the scene, and two minors were injured.
