The UK, together with its allies, will send Ukraine a new package of military aid worth over GPB 100 million, including Terrahawk Paladin air defense systems, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps has said.

A press release from the British Ministry of Defense notes that in order to conclude contracts for the supply of equipment that will be included in the aid package, funds are being raised from the International Fund for Ukraine, which, in addition to Britain, is also financed by Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland and Lithuania.

The package, in particular, will include mine clearance equipment, means for building bridges across rivers and trenches, as well as heavy engineering obstacle clearing vehicles for destroying non-explosive obstacles.

"It comes as the final contract from the previously announced IFU package of air defence capability was signed, which will see more than £70m of capabilities provided to Ukraine – including the MSI-DS Terrahawk Paladin, a platform which can track and destroy drones and protect critical national infrastructure," the Defense Ministry said in the press release.

The announcement comes after the Prime Minister met President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the European Political Community in Grenada last week. The Ukrainian President has said that air defence is Ukraine's most critical capability need, and the Terrahawk Paladin will help deliver what Ukraine needs to protect its citizens from Putin's indiscriminate campaign of missile strikes against civilian targets, it said.

The department reported that during its operation the fund was able to attract about GBP 785 million.

It is noted that the defense ministers of Great Britain and other countries plan to announce the aid package at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which is being held on Wednesday at NATO headquarters.
