Corruption, unregistered weapons pose destabilization risks – Chief of National Police
Corruption and the presence of unregistered weapons in the hands of Ukrainians pose risks of destabilization in Ukraine, Chief of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vyhovsky said.
In an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency, speaking about destabilizing factors that pose the greatest threat to undermine the country from inside, he emphasized that the police are outside of politics.
"I can say only that when we are united and move together for a common goal, there will be no loosening [of the situation in the country]," Vyhovsky said.
"I consider corruption to be one of the destabilizing factors. And the National Police are fighting against signs of corruption both in the country, in line with our functionality, and within the structure. Some people fight on the front line, others live a peaceful life, believing that the war does not concern them, and some convert war into money," he said.
The head of the National Police drew attention to the fact that law enforcement officers are currently actively working on the issue of territorial centers for recruitment and medical commissions.
"There is already a result – it has become much more difficult to evade military duty," Vyhovsky said.
"The other risks of destabilization include the presence of unregistered weapons in the hands of the population, and for the future – a possible deterioration in the crime situation due to probable post-war difficulties," he said.
