Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will visit Ukraine on March 21 and then leave for the Republic of Poland on March 22, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.

According to a statement on the Foreign Ministry website, Prime Minister Kisida will express his respect to President Zelenskyy for the courage and perseverance of the Ukrainian people standing up to defend their homeland.

"Prime Minister Kishida, as Japan and the G7, of which Japan is the Chair, will directly convey our solidarity and unwavering support for Ukraine," the ministry said.

Kishida will also resolutely reject Russia's aggression against Ukraine and unilateral changing of the status quo by force, and reconfirm his determination to uphold the international order based on the rule of law.

In Poland, the leaders of the countries will confirm their commitment to strengthen the bilateral cooperation as well as that of the international fora, including response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, based on the strategic partnership with Poland, which is the frontline of military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

Kishida will return to Japan on the morning of March 23.
