Three children hospitalized after playing with explosive object in Melitopol district of Zaporizhia region – State Emergency Service

Three children were injured and hospitalized after playing with an explosive object and its further detonation in the Melitopol district of Zaporizhia region, one of the victims is in intensive care, the State Emergency Service has reported.

"In the village of Obilne, Melitopol District, three teenagers born in 2007, born in 2008, and born in 2009 found an explosive object and played with it, and an explosion occurred. The children were hospitalized. One of the teenagers is in intensive care," the press service of the Service reported on Facebook on Thursday morning.

Rescuers are calling on parents to control the pastime of their children, and also remind them of the rules of conduct when explosive objects are found.

"We appeal to parents – control the leisure of your children, do not leave children unattended! Tell us about the danger of explosive and suspicious objects! In case of detection, immediately call the operational services by phone: 101, 102, providing information about the characteristic features of the object; zone of other people and be sure to wait for representatives of law enforcement agencies or the State Emergency Service of Ukraine," the State Emergency Service of the region said in the address.

As reported, the specialists of the Association of Sappers of Ukraine, together with the mine action operator Demining Solutions, with the start of the large-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine on March 22, counted more than 83,000 square kilometers of hazardous areas contaminated with explosive objects.
