UNICEF, Education Ministry, relevant organizations launch psychological support project 'Poruch'

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Institute of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the Volunteer national public center, have launched the psychological support project "Poruch."

"The Poruch project is a psychological support group for teenagers and parents whose usual life was broken by the war. Psychologists are ready to help online and offline so that the experience of Ukrainian citizens does not remain an insurmountable trauma for life," the ministry's press service said in a statement.

It is noted that online meetings will be held on ZOOM. Each of them will have no more than ten participants and a leading psychologist. Participation in groups is free. Meeting times will be agreed with each participant.

"During the meetings, children will be able to share experiences about events, feel the support of other group members and specialists, as well as find ways to support themselves and loved ones in difficult times, to be in a community of people who understand and support each other," the ministry said.

The department said the Poruch psychologists help not only teenagers, but also parents.

Adult participants will discuss, in particular, how to support yourself and loved ones, how to manage emotions in difficult times, how to relieve pain and find yourself in new living conditions, how to plan in times of uncertainty and where to find resources for this.
