Over half of Ukrainians expect 2021 to be better than 2020 – poll

More than half of the polled Ukrainians (52%) expect that 2021 will be better than the previous one, the results of a survey conducted by the Rating sociological group from January 2 to January 4, 2021 showed. According to a press release published on the Rating website on Tuesday, some 27% of respondents do not expect changes in the new year, while 18% believe that 2021 will be worse than 2020. The best expectations have young people and women.

At the same time, the majority of Ukrainians (74%) look into the new 2021 with optimism, and only 18% with pessimism.

"More optimistic in their expectations are residents of Kyiv and western regions, youth, voters of the Servant of the People, For the Future, the Ukrainian Strategy, and the Holos parties," the group said.

In the course of the CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviews) survey, some 2,500 respondents were interviewed based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. The audience included the population of Ukraine aged 18 years and older in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. The sample is representative by age, gender and type of settlement. Error of representativeness of the survey with a confidence level of 0.95 was no more than 2%.
