Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Vladyslav Manher has been notified of suspicion of organizing the murder of activist, adviser to the mayor of Kherson Kateryna Handziuk, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko has said.

"Citizen Manher has been notified of suspicion of organizing the murder of Kateryna Handziuk," wrote Lutsenko on his Facebook page on Monday.

Manher is suspected of deliberately and unlawfully causing the death of another person out of mercenary motives and acting with special cruelty by prior agreement with a group of persons (Part 3 of Article 27, Parts 11, 12 of Article 115 of Ukraine's Criminal Code).

As was earlier reported, an unknown person on July 31, 2018 in Kherson doused Handziuk with sulfuric acid. Handziuk died of complications on November 4, 2018.

Manher, a former member of the Batkivschyna Party, in January 2019 suspended his membership in the party. He has denied all wrongdoing.
