EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn stressed that the perpetrators who committed the attack that led to the death of Kateryna Handziuk, former acting administrator of the executive committee of Kherson City Council and advisor to the Kherson mayor, should be brought to justice.

"Very saddened by the news of the passing of the incredibly brave Kateryna Handziuk. Attacks against civil society activists are unacceptable. The perpetrators of this vicious crime must be brought to justice. My thoughts are with her family and friends," Hahn wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

As it is known, Hahn will visit Ukraine on November 9 with an official visit. An informed source told Kyiv-based Interfax-Ukraine news agency earlier that the purpose of the visit would be to discuss the reform agenda, as well as the progress achieved in the framework of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

Information about the death of the activist appeared earlier on Sunday on Facebook's community page, titled "Who ordered Katia Handziuk?" Later this information was confirmed by Ukraine's National Police and President Petro Poroshenko.
