Denisova offers Moskalkova meeting to discuss implementation of presidents' agreements on visiting prisoners

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova has again offered Russian counterpart Tatyana Moskalkova to hold a meeting to discuss the implementation of agreements between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia on visiting prisoners in the two countries.

"Once again I offered Human Rights Ombudswoman in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova to discuss the issues of exchange and simultaneously appeal to the presidents of Ukraine and the Russian Federation to pardon the prisoners of both countries. I suggest that the Russian Federation's authorized representative hold a joint meeting in any city or country and discuss the implementation of agreements of the presidents of Ukraine and the Russian Federation regarding visiting the citizens of both states held in prisons and their exchange," she wrote on Facebook.

Denisova also stressed she supports the appeal of the EU Delegation to the OSCE to immediately release Ukrainian film maker Oleh Sentsov.

"The release must take place without any conditions. Many of our guys are waiting for their release in the territory of the Russian Federation and the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea," she said, noting that 22 Russian citizens, held in prisons in the territory of Ukraine, personally appealed to the president of the Russian Federation with the request to exchange them for Ukrainian political prisoners.
