Funds for loans for residential energy efficiency depleted in 2018, financing to resume next year

Banks have suspended the issue of loans for residential energy efficiency, as the funds foreseen under this state-financed program for 2018 have depleted, Chairman of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Serhiy Savchuk has said.

"This year the government approved UAH 195 million of co-financing [for loans for residential energy efficiency provided to homeowner associations, the total financing of these loans in 2018 was UAH 400 million]. In six months we have these funds depleted, and in fact, banks are not currently lending. However, I am confident that the funds will be earmarked next year. The limits on private households have been exhausted even earlier than for homeowner associations," Savchuk said at a press conference on Thursday.

According to the information of the agency, in August, the State Agency for Energy Efficiency compensated UAH 60 million for loans for residential energy efficiency, of which UAH 31 million were provided to homeowner associations, which attracted funds for the insulation of high-rise buildings.

From the beginning of 2018 some UAH 270 million was reimbursed for loans for residential energy efficiency. Since the start of the program, its participants received UAH 2.3 billion of compensations from the national budget.
