Ukrainian, Turkish police officers agree on joint fight against organized crime

First Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Viacheslav Abroskin has said at a meeting between representatives of the police departments of Ukraine and Turkey that the police of the two countries have common points of contact for documenting and investigating crimes committed by organized criminal groups in the territory of both states.

"We cannot say that members of an organized criminal group 'specialize' only in trafficking in human beings or distributing drugs. I invited all leaders of criminal police to the meeting so that we could discuss the issues of counteracting organized criminal groups in various areas and establish cooperation at all levels. I hope that we will have many crimes solved together," the press service of the National Police of Ukraine quoted Abroskin as saying on Thursday.

Abroskin added that Ukraine's police possess information about the leaders of criminal groups that organize criminal activities both in Ukraine and in other countries. Consequently, as part of cooperation, Ukrainian police are ready to provide all the necessary information to Turkish colleagues.

He noted that the exchange of necessary information would help both countries to prevent the commission of serious crimes.

"We are now openly working with European countries on specific organized criminal groups and areas for combating organized crime. We teamed up with a number of European countries to exchange information. There are already positive developments, and we see the reaction of the underworld," Abroskin said.

The Turkish side supported this format of cooperation and expressed full interest in interaction between police officers of the two countries.
