JFO HQ reports 1 KIA, 4 WIA amid 21 enemy attacks on Ukrainian Army positions
Over the past day, Russian hybrid military forces have mounted 21 attacks on the Ukrainian army positions with one Ukrainian serviceman reported as killed in action (KIA), four others as wounded in action (WIA), the operation's press center has reported.
"Over the past day, on May 8, the situation in the area of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) remained complex and was characterized by an increase in the use of heavy weapons by the enemy, especially artillery. During the fighting, four of our soldiers were injured," the JFO press center said in its update as of 07:00 of Wednesday posted on Facebook.
The press center noted that in the areas of Krymske, Popasna, Troyitske, Luhanske, and Zaitseve illegal armed formations used 152 and 122 mm artillery, mortars. They used small arms in Avdiyivka, Maryinka, Butovka mine, Shyrokyne. Units of the JFO provided an adequate response and conducted an active defense.
As noted, the hostilities were most actively conducted in Krymske, Svitlodarske, Avdiyivske and Mariupol areas.
"On May 8 the invaders once again used 152 cannons and mortars of 120 calibers for civilians in Zaitseve and Loskutivka settlements. The shells fell into apartment houses and outbuildings," the press center stressed.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, one militant was killed and another five were wounded.
