We are not going to forge the Volga River – Muzhenko

Chief of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko has said that increasing the mobility of Ukrainian troops is a key priority of military reform in Ukraine and the training of troops, according to a report posted on the official website of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

During a meeting with members of the Kyiv Association of Military Attaches on Thursday, February 8, he noted that it was about moving the relevant forces and means - brigades, regiments, battalions, based on the activity and evaluation of the nature of the enemy's actions. The corresponding actions were worked out during the strategic exercises that provided for the movement and implementation of maneuvers for long distances - Summer Thunderstorm 2016, South Wind 2016 and Unyielding Resistance 2017.

Muzhenko also noted that during such exercises, great attention is paid to the ability of troops to overcome water obstacles, which are many in Ukraine.

"We are not going to forge the Volga. We are going to walk on our territory and on our own land. Despite the fact that someone provides some 'fake' documents, we have no tasks outside Ukraine's borders," he said.
