"Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, based on information from Interpol and Europol, have detained a citizen of Uzbekistan in Odesa region, who was put on the international wanted list for committing particularly serious crimes," the SBU's press center reported.

The report notes that the detainee took an active part in the activities of the Jihadchilar (Jihadists) international religious extremist group, and he was a member of the structural unit of the Jamaat group.

"The detainee, in particular, was responsible for recruiting new extremists and also promoted the ideas of radical Islam," the SBU said.

The issue of applying to the foreigner an extradition arrest with subsequent transfer to the state security bodies of Uzbekistan is currently being decided.
