MP Semenukha describes demarche of Armenian delegation in Kyiv

The delegation of Armenia under pressure from Moscow opposed the declaration of the Fiftieth General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Kyiv opposed PABSEC's about the need to ensure the restoration of sovereignty of states in the region, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deputy Roman Semenukha (Samopomich Party faction) has said.

"The declaration was being formulated… The draft version talked only about economic issues, about how we welcome one another as countries which oblige ourselves to ensure economic development, innovations, cooperation and the like," Semenukha told the Kyiv-based Interfax-Ukraine new agency.

Semenukha said PABSEC members cannot ignore the security situation in the region, in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

"The Armenian delegation in protest - I think at the direction of Moscow… I don't think they independently took the decision – walked out of the session all, supposedly because the wording of the declaration was not agreed with them," Semenukha said.

As earlier reported, PABSEC's fiftieth general assembly is taking place in Kyiv from November 28 to November 30. Members of the organization include 12 countries: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Armenia, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
