PGO sends request to Russia to hand notice of suspicion to organizer of Voronenkov's murder

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) has sent a request to Russia to provide international legal assistance in conducting investigative actions with Russian citizen Vladimir Tyurin, who is suspected of organizing the murder of former State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov, Ukrainian Deputy Prosecutor General Yevhen Yenin has said.

Yenin told Interfax-Ukraine that the Prosecutor General's Office had sent the request to hand Tyurin a notice of suspicion under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder).

According to earlier reports, Voronenkov was killed in central Kyiv on March 23. The assassin, Pavlo Parshov, was wounded by the former deputy's security guard and later died at a hospital.

Voronenkov's assassin had an accomplice, Yaroslav Levenets, who has been wanted for economic crimes since 2012. Yaroslav Tarasenko is also a suspect in the crime. He was detained on July 16.

On October 9, 2017, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said that Voronenkov's murder was ordered by a criminal boss controlled by the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB), Vladimir Tyurin, who is also the former common-law partner of Voronkov's widow Maria Maksakova.
