Parubiy to visit U.S. on June 12-17 to discuss Ukraine's integration into NATO

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy expects that Ukraine's integration into NATO will be among the main topics of his meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress Paul Ryan, during his visit to the U.S. on June 12-17.

"The key meeting [during Parubiy's visit to the U.S.] will be with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress Paul Ryan. We will prepare a document on cooperation between our parliaments, but the conversation will deal with a wider topic of issues than just inter-parliamentary cooperation. The issue of speeding Ukraine's integration into the North Atlantic Alliance, and increasing assistance to Ukraine in the security area," he said in an interview with the Rada TV channel on Friday.

According to the speaker, during his visit to the United States Parubiy will raise the issue of energy security not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe.

"We will speak about the construction of the Nord Stream, which, in my opinion, is not only an energy project of Russia, but is also a security issue... and I will talk about this in the United States – that we must prevent the implementation of this project," Parubiy said.

He also said that he intends to invite Ryan to Ukraine.

Parubiy will visit Washington on June 12-17, Interfax-Ukraine learnt at the office of the Verkhovna Rada.
