Hennadiy Moskal says Zakarpattia region de-communized

The head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal, said that the process of the implementation of the law on de-communization has been completed in the region, however, he noted a backlash from the local residents and authorities occurring during the renaming of streets.

"The Zakarpattia region has been finally entirely de-communized, all of the streets named after Lenin, Dzerzhinsky, Kirov, Komsomol, October [Revolution] have been consigned to the dustbin of history. Instead of them, not only John Lennon Street or Andy Warhol Street have appeared. The region became the only place in Ukraine where all of the de-communized streets have been renamed in honor of all the heroes who died in Donbas. That was my committed position," Moskal wrote on his Facebook in the early hours of Friday.

However, Moskal said, "As it turns out, there are many people who are protesting this decision."
