Poroshenko signs law allowing religious organizations to establish schools

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said he signed a law allowing religious organizations to establish educational institutions and instructed the Defense Ministry of Ukraine to speed up the development of regulations for chaplains.

Poroshenko on Saturday held a meeting with heads of churches and religious organizations, during which he instructed the Defense Ministry to speed up the development of regulations on chaplains in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other law enforcement agencies, the president's press service reported.

"I will issue an instruction to speed up the work on the provisions on chaplaincy. It is important that there should be representatives of all churches among chaplains. Everyone has their own path to God. I hope that you will join this work and I will give respective orders to the Defense Ministry," the president said.

Poroshenko also said he decided to sign a law that allows the establishment of educational institutions by religious organizations.
