Foreigners to be deported to wait no longer than 18 months for identification - bill
The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a bill aimed at addressing issues related to illegal migration.
All in all, 273 deputies voted in favor of the draft law (No. 3159) on amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine concerning the improvement of the legal protection of foreigners and stateless persons and the settlement of certain issues related to illegal migration.
In particular, the bill proposes that individuals who do not have legal grounds for staying in Ukraine who have been detained and are subject to deportation from the country will be placed in a temporary residence for the period required to identify them and ensure their deportation for no more than 18 months (current legislation states 12 months).
