Ukrainian army suffers no casualties in Donbas over past day - Lysenko

Not a single Ukrainian soldier has been killed or wounded on the Donbas frontline over the past day, Ukrainian Presidential Administration spokesman for the anti-terrorist operation Andriy Lysenko has said.

"Despite the information coming here from the frontline, not a single Ukrainian serviceman has been killed or wounded over the past day," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

The western outskirts of Donetsk were the only unsettled spot in the combat zone on Thursday, Lysenko said. In his words, local militants were using small arms, including large-caliber machineguns and various types of grenade launchers. "The enemy attacked our positions in Krasnohorivka by use of BMP-2 weapons. Hostile snipers were spotted in Avdiyivka," he said.

The Kyiv representative said that the enemy opened fire on residential areas on Thursday morning, for the first time in several months. An 82mm mortar fired two shells on Krasnohorivka, he said.

Two Ukrainian servicemen were hurt in the explosion of an RGD-5 pull-action mine while inspecting the village of Zolote, Lysenko said.

Servicemen tried to stop a vehicle attempting to speed through the Ukrainian roadblock near Popasna in Luhansk region early in the morning of November 5. The servicemen used firearms in accordance with the rules and killed the driver, Lysenko said.

The driver was identified as a resident of territories beyond Ukraine's control. He was wearing camouflage clothes with the insignia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, Lysenko said.
