State Employment Service head, another service official arrested until bail is paid – PGO

Pechersky district court of Kyiv, acting on the request of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO), has ruled to arrest the head of State Employment Service and the head of the service's tender committee, however both individuals could be released on bail.

"The State Employment Service head was prescribed arrest with possible release on bail in the amount of UAH 1.8 million to guarantee the commitments of the suspect. Another person, the head of the service's tender committee, was placed into custody with release on bail worth UAH 627,000," the PGO press service said on Monday.

Previously, the PGO reported that together with the Security Service of Ukraine it had detained "one of the top officials of the State Employment Service of Ukraine" while receiving a bribe worth over UAH 600,000.

"The official received these funds for providing unlawful assistance to representatives of commercial structures while participating in public procurement and for the further misappropriation of budget funds… The offender was detained at the scene of the crime," the PGO's press service reported on Friday.

Another Employment Service official – Head of Tender Committee – was detained by the PGO for improper advantage.

The Security Service and the Prosecutor General's Office have not made the names of the detainees public.

The current head of the State Employment Service is Yaroslav Kashuba. He was appointed in February 2015.
