During visit to Germany Polish president intends to discuss expanding Ukrainian talks' format

Polish president Andrzej Duda is planning to bring up the point of a broader format of talks on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis when visiting Berlin next week, a statement published on the official website of the head of the Polish state said.

"I would like to talk about it. I cannot imagine that the strong European nations would not participate in the talks, but they could be joined by the United States, as a global nation that Russia undoubtedly has to consider, and Ukrainian neighbors, particularly those who are directly interested in things going on in Ukraine," the website cites Duda's statement as reading.

The Polish president believes that, beside Germany and France, the European Union and European institutions have to take part in the negotiations on the Ukrainian crisis.

Duda added that the Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko, reiterated in the course of a telephone conversation with him that he expected to receive Polish support in this situation.

It was reported earlier that German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko are planning to meet in Berlin on Monday in order to discuss the recently exacerbated situation in eastern Ukraine.

On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in his turn, expressed hopes that Hollande and Merkel would persuade Poroshenko at their Monday meeting in Berlin to fulfill his obligations under all the agreements on the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
